Acquisition request
Members and students at the UAS Erfurt have the opportunity to hand in acquisition requests for literature to library staff in the departments.

Bags
may not be brought into the library in accordance with §6 of the library regulations. Please use the lockers in the entrance area to store your bags.

Carrels
are workstations that are mainly available for the use of graduands for limited periods on registration.
Classification system
the Regensburg classification system is used to classify books and periodicals.
Cloakroom
Bags and coats are not allowed to be brought into the open-access area of the library.

Copiers
card-operated photocopiers are at all floors, an additional color copier on the ground floor . You can obtain copier cards from the loans desk while opening hours up to 6.00 p.m.

Databases
are available free of charge to university members for independent research Database information system (DBIS)
Document delivery services
enable literature to be provided quickly. They are subject to a fee and may be used directly through the Internet.

Electronic journals
are available free of charge to university members, Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek Regensburg (EZB)
Extension
as a rule the loan period can be extended twice for 4 weeks at a time, and this can be done via OPAC.

Fees
the payment of fees is governed by the Thüringer Verwaltungskostenordnung for university libraries.

Information
is available at the information desk (10.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs) or at the loans desk. (Tel.: 0361/6700-598/519).
Interlibrary lending
literature that is not stocked by the university library can be ordered through the interlibrary lending service. You need an interlibrary lending account to place online orders. An interlibrary loan order costs 1.50 €.
Internet
use of the Internet is subject to the regulations of the university library and of the University Computer Centre.
Introduction
programmes on library use for beginners are held at the beginning of the semester.

Landesfilmdienst Thüringen e.V.
training films from the Landesfilmdienst Thüringen e.V. can be researched in the Landesfilmdienst database, available via the library homepage, and also borrowed from the university library.
Laptop
the library provides university members and students with workplaces with data ports on the 1st and 2nd floors, where they can use the university's Internet and Intranet services with their own laptops. WLAN is also accessable in all rooms of the library.
Additional registration is necessary to use WLAN and the databases and Intranet for a fee.
Library account
you must identify yourself to view your library account. The date of birth in the form DDMMYY is used as password (before WS 2009 the initials of your first and last names). We recommend that you change your password from time to time.
Library card
must be produced to borrow items. Outside library users need it as ID for Internet access.

Library tours
induction sessions for library users are held regularly at the start of the winter semester by arrangement with the departments.
Training sessions and library tours can be arranged by telephone at any time. (Tel.: 6700/504).
Loans
You can borrow items from the open-access and magazine area that are not marked as reference copies. Not available on loan: journals and loose-leaf editions.
Loan period
is four weeks for a book. If it was not reserved, it can be renewed twice via OPAC . The book must then be handed in. Reference literature can only be loaned out short-term over the weekend.
Lockers
require a deposit and may be used for coats and bags.

Magazine orders
magazine literature can be ordered via OPAC and is ready for collection the following day.

New acquisitions
you will find some newly acquired and catalogued books in the new acquisitions section on individual floors.
Norms
DIN norms in digital form can be used in full by students and employees of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt for research and teaching.
O
Online catalogue (OPAC)
the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is the electronic catalogue of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt. You can look up all the library's printed and electronic media in OPAC.
P
Password
is your date of birth in the form DDMMYY, (before winter semester 2009 2 characters comprising the initials of your first and last names).
Periodicals
can be researched via OPAC. Back copies are listed in the magazine and must be ordered the day before.
Printing
is possible from the carrels and all public terminals. There are card-operated black/white and colour-printer/copiers at every floor.
R
Reference material
is not ordinarily loaned out, although it is possible to borrow items over the weekend.
Classmark label „Präsenz“ ("reference") or red sticker „nicht ausleihbar“ ("not for loan").
Registration
is done at the loans desk on the ground floor. You will need your ID card or passport.

Reminders
overdue items are subject to a charge. The scale of fees is governed by the Thüringer Verwaltungskostenordnung for university libraries.
Reservations
items on loan to other users can be reserved online via OPAC.
Returns
are handed in at the loans desk or after 18.00 hrs at the self-service terminal.

terminal available. After 18.00 hrs loans and returns are self-service only.
Shelf mark
indicates the location of the item in the library.

for libraries; these regulations govern the payment and scale of fees for specific services and reminders.
Training
sessions can be arranged by telephone or in writing. Arrangements must be made through the department at the start of the university year.
