The TOEIC test measures and assesses your language proficiency in business English.
The test was developed in 1979 by ETS - Educational Testing Service ™, a test research and development institution in Princeton (New Jersey) in collaboration with universities and vocational training organisations.
Every year sees ten new versions of the TOEIC based on authentic examples of internationally used business English. Each test is taken by 50,000 candidates. There are public test centres throughout Germany - for detailed information visit our website. The test consists of 200 questions and lasts around two and a half hours.
Each test candidate receives a certificate and is graded on a scale from 10 to 990 points, with special reference being made to listening and reading comprehension. The test results are accompanied by an explanatory table giving an assessment of individual language skills. For example: a candidate with 750 points "understands most business situations", "usually adjusts his speech correctly to suit a variety of business partners" "also reads ...difficult technical texts".
