- The relocation of economic activities and social conflicts influences the settlement and spatial planning and design of the Sumberagung Village/ Kampong Pancer.
- A development of the comprehensive spatial village plan must minimize the impact of tsunami in the future.
- A design of temporary buildings must consider the dynamic fisherman activities and address the question of utility during the low fishing season.
- A development of building design and construction using local materials and appropriate technology has to resist the earthquake force and consider the impact of the tsunami.
Landscape Architecture Department
From the Landscape Architecture point of view following topics can be focused:
- Analysing possibilities of future settlement development in tsunami endangered coastal areas
- Describe different development scenarios (status quo, extension, rearrangement or dismantling of existing settlements) within a comprehensive socio- cultural context
- Development of sustainable land use planning referring to earning potentials for citizens
- Potentials of new/ alternative income possibilities in the investigated area and review on recent land uses
- Showing assets and drawbacks of intensive and traditional land use forms (from a ecological and economical point of view)
- Interactions with a nearby Nature Reserve and possibilities of commercial trade of local products in the neighbouring tourism area)
- Coast protection basis for sustainable development
- Analysing and reviewing recent and new approaches
- Coast protection through mangrove establishment (silvo-fishery)
- Reference to Integrated Coastal Management Plans
Architecture Department
Students of Architecture Department will work on models of different housing constructions, which are orientated on historical settlement structures, local materials and different use intensities.
- Indonesian village and housing patterns
- Indonesian house forms regarding cultural and economical aspects
- energy-sustainable building design in Indonesia
- tsunami-resistant building design - solutions and options
- earthquake-resistant building design - solutions and options
Civil Engineering Department
Subjects for Civil Engineering Department are constructional planning concepts to organise construction processes of housing in tsunami endangered areas. Based on models from Architecture Department, their work will also refer to local structures and conditions.
Objectives of projects will be:
- Implementation of architectural design schemes for constructional planning and cost calculation
- Statically and constructional computation and approaches of earthquake resistance
- Use of typical local bamboo material and own testing of local materials in the faculty's laboratory
