Integration Projects / International Projects

Our international projects are designed to make it easier for foreign students to adjust to life at the University of Applied Sciences and to the city of Erfurt. They include:

TANDEM Project
At the beginning of their studies at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, tutors provide organisational support for foreign students. Participating in cultural activities together makes it easier for students to get used to the university and Thuringia.

Cafè International
Thuringian Student Services organises weekly meetings of international students at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and the University of Erfurt for international evenings, discussions and a wide range of cultural events.

Springboard to Learning
International students are recruited as teachers for projects at schools in Erfurt. By sharing their stories about their home countries, they can promote open-mindedness and intercultural education in Erfurt.

Fremde werden Freunde - Strangers become friends
The project arranges for citizens of Erfurt to mentor individual international students from the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and the University of Erfurt. They also hold joint events to further develop the international network in the state capital.

International "Stammtisch"
Once a month, people from Erfurt meet with international residents for an evening get-together in a café.

Sprachcafé - Language Café
The "Sprachcafé" project, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), has been running since autumn 2015 and aims to enable refugees to integrate into the university.

Welcome Project
The DAAD has been funding a B2 language course for refugees since 2016. This is part of the Welcome Project, which - similar to the Language Café - aims to integrate refugees at the university and beyond.

Summer Schools

The popular International Erfurt Summer School has been taking place during the semester break since 2005. Students from all continents come to Erfurt for two weeks to study together at the University of Applied Sciences, exchange their knowledge, and also to get to know the country and its people.

In the summer of 2021, the International Exchange Camp is due to take place for the first time. The camp offers an exciting interdisciplinary program covering a wide range of topics and complemented by a number of intercultural events and activities.
