Internationalization projects

Our international projects are designed to make it easier for foreign students to settle in both at the University of Applied Sciences and in the city of Erfurt. They include:

TANDEM project
Tutors assist international students with organizational matters at the beginning of their degree course at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt. Taking part in cultural activities together helps the students to settle in, both at the university and in Thuringia.

Cafè International
This project, run by Thuringian Student Services, organizes weekly meetings for international students from the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and the University of Erfurt. They hold themed evenings based on the students' home countries, discussion groups and a wide range of other cultural events.

Springboard to Learning
This programme recruits international students to teach in projects at schools in Erfurt, where they can talk about their home countries, broaden the pupils' horizons and promote intercultural education.

Fremde werden Freunde (Strangers become Friends)
Sponsorships are arranged between residents of Erfurt and international students from the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and the University of Erfurt. Joint events are organized to strengthen the international network in our state capital.

International Stammtisch
One evening a month, Erfurt locals meet up with international residents for relaxed conversation in a café.

The "Language Café", funded by the DAAD, has been running since autumn 2015 and aims to help refugees integrate into university life.

Welcome Project
A B2 language course for refugees has been funded by the DAAD since the summer of 2016. This is part of the Welcome Project, which - similar to the Language Café - aims to integrate refugees at the university and beyond.
