Conditions for study for an exchange study

Language requirements

A condition for a sandwich course at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt is the sufficient command of the German language, since the lectures and seminars are held in German. The proof of this German knowledge is confirmed by your home university. Everyone studying should be able to follow the course.

German as a foreign language courses at University of Applied Sciences Erfurt

In addition, you can visit the semester-accompanying courses in the studies for German as a foreign language (DaF) during the lecture period. The DaF offer varies from semester to semester. The courses are offered in different stages: The basic level level A1/A2, the central stage level B1/B2 and the upper stage level B2/C1. Activities are offered for individual skills (conversation, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, writing), scientific working techniques as well as specialised language. The individual activities are to be found on the web page of the language centre.

Applying to study

You should apply by the 15 July for admission of an exchange study at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt in the winter semester. For the summer semester 15 January is valid as an application period.

A complete application includes:

• the filled out and signed application for admission

• proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language

The application documents:

Immatriculation and enrolment

The registration takes place at the beginning of the semester in the Office of Academic Affairs. It requires the proof of health insurance company affiliation and the payment of the term fees. Then you are issued with student documents of identification and the certificate of immatriculation.

After registration you are entitled to attend lectures and seminars at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt.

As a registered student you can use all the facilities of the institution (library, computer pools etc.). With the student ID you are entitled to discounts (e.g. theatre, museums). You can also visit the refectory and other facilities of the Thuringia student union.
