Interns needed in the field of urban research

Interfaces between urban development, housing and stakeholder perspectives

The Institute for Urban Research, Planning and Communication (ISP) at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt offers internships in the fields of urban development, housing and governance as part of compulsory course-related work placements. The main focus of the Institute's research is on urban transformation processes, particularly in the areas of integrated urban development, the development of human settlements and open spaces, municipal climate protection and climate adaptation, governance structures, and communicative planning and development.

During your internship, it is possible to work on the current research projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, in particular HeatResilientCity - "Heat-Resilient Urban and Neighbourhood Development in Large Cities - Resident-Oriented Knowledge Generation and Implementation in Dresden and Erfurt" (see

Your tasks will include academic research, processing and documenting specialized information and research findings, writing and visualizing theoretical and applied content, and contributing to the preparation, implementation and evaluation of qualitative and quantitative surveys and events within the research projects. In addition, participating in project and institute meetings as well as other professional events is a further component of your internship at the ISP.

Our primary requirement is that you are interested in the research areas of the ISP. Furthermore, applicants should have experience in academic methodology (e.g. literature research, case study analysis, stakeholder and network analysis), knowledge of statistical analysis (especially SPSS), geo-information systems and the implementation of qualitative interviews and participatory events.
