DBU model project: Energy efficiency and housing industry - Testing of environmental communication concepts for an energy efficient behaviour of residents in existing housing complexes in Erfurt and Kassel
The housing industry being a contact point for residents and overall a possible cooperation partner, plays an important part to achieve climate change objectives on a local level. In addition to technological innovations, energy savings and an increase in energy efficiency, the energy behaviour of private households is one of the determining factors of climate change.
In collaboration with two housing companies, that a involved in the pilot project, methods of information an participation are being tested und further developed, with a view of contributing to an energy efficient behaviour of residents. As a result, successful strategies will be developed to enforce an energy efficient and sustainable behaviour as well as a significant improvement of the carbon footprint of the inhabitants/residents within the pilot quarters. Furthermore, recommendations in regards to communication processes and the development of climate change will be conducted for housing industry and city development.
