Online Conference "HeatResilientCity"

A stress test for stakeholders, public spaces and buildings – heat strategies from science, municipalities, the housing industry and citizens

10th September 2020

Quality of life in extreme heat?

Recent summers have shown the extent to which exposure to high temperatures can affect our quality of life. The resulting health impacts also pose an increasing risk to residents of cities with a high degree of density and impervious surfaces.

So, what measures can be taken regarding governance, buildings and open spaces to enable effective climate adaptation? The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) project "HeatResilientCity: Heat-Resilient Urban and Neighbourhood Development in Large Cities - Resident-Oriented Knowledge Generation and Implementation in Dresden and Erfurt" addressed this and other issues.

“Housing after displacement” - Integration of refugees and Roma in urban housing markets and neighborhoods

 28th March 2019

The symposium presented research results from two innovative case studies,  "Probewohnen" in Lübeck and the project "Bunte 111" in Berlin, which were examined in detail within the BMBF project "StraInWo – Strategies and instruments for the integration of particularly disadvantaged population groups in the housing market and neighborhood". With the participation of actors and partners from both case studies, the conference offered the opportunity to exchange and further develop results, open research questions, concrete practical examples, and action strategies with interested parties from research and practice.
