Accommodation
Depending on the housing market and the size of a student city, finding accommodation can be a time-consuming process, especially at the beginning of the semester. The key thing to remember is that the earlier you start looking, the better.

Student halls of residence
Thuringian Student Services is in charge of allocating places in student halls of residence. The rooms are often furnished and equipped with modern kitchens, including a cooker and refrigerator. You can apply for a place in halls even before you apply for enrolment at the university.

Shared apartments
The so-called "WG" (shared apartment) is typical for students and can range from a purely functional arrangement to a family-like community. There are all kinds of WGs, from the small two-person shared apartment to much larger communities.

Renting your own apartment
The most expensive option is usually to rent your own apartment, which you can find in local newspapers, ebay classifieds, real estate websites and various Facebook groups on the Internet.
