Student Finance

Even though the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt does not charge tuition fees, studying still costs money. Rent, books, eating in the refectory and the occasional visit to a café need to be paid for. So how can you fund your studies?

BAföG

Those eligible for BAföG (the federal German financial assistance scheme) must apply via Thuringia Student Services (Studierendenwerk Thüringen). Financial aid is granted for the standard period of study of the degree course and must be partially reimbursed after graduation.

Scholarships

The selection criteria for the award of scholarships vary greatly. In addition to particularly good academic results, social considerations and community involvement can also be decisive factors.

Part-time job

About two thirds of all students have part-time jobs to pay for their studies. A part-time job may be time-consuming, but it can also provide valuable experience for your future career.

For more information, see Thuringia Student Services.

Deutschlandstipendium

The University of Applied Sciences sponsors students with the "Deutschlandstipendium" (Germany Scholarship). The university awards this grant to particularly gifted and academically successful students. It is awarded independently of state financial aid (BAföG).

Student Loans

Publicly and privately funded student loans can be useful for ensuring income at certain stages of your studies. However, it is essential that you compare the conditions before signing a contract.

Parental Support

Many students receive financial support from their parents. Although the amount depends on individual needs, the statutory regulatory requirements can serve as a guide.
