Selection procedure for current and prospective students

Candidates will be chosen by a selection committee appointed by the Executive Board of the university. The selection committee consists of a member of the Executive Board, two professors and two students. Selection is based on particular aptitude and academic achievement, but social or community involvement is also taken into account.

Selection is based on the following criteria:

For first-year students:

  1. the average grade of your university entrance qualification, with special consideration of the individual grades relevant for the chosen subject, or
  2. the specialist qualification entitling the holder to study the particular degree course at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt.

For current students:

  • your academic achievements so far, in particular the ECTS points or results of interim examinations, for students of a Master's program also the final grade of your undergraduate studies.

The overall assessment of the applicant's potential will also take particular account of:

  1. special achievements, awards and prizes, previous professional activity, internships and work placements,
  2. extracurricular and subject-unrelated activities such as voluntary work, community, social, higher education or political involvement or participation in religious communities, associations or clubs ,
  3. special personal or family circumstances such as illness or disabilities, caring for your own children, especially as a single parent, or close relatives in need of care, working in the family business, gainful employment during studies, family background or a migration background.
