Language requirements

One requirement for completing part of your studies at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt is the sufficient command of the German language, since the lectures and seminars are held in German. Proof of your German language skills is to be confirmed by your home university. Every student should be able to easily follow the lectures.

Courses in German as a Foreign Language at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt

In addition, you can attend courses in German as a Foreign Language (DaF) during the lecture period. The courses on offer vary from semester to semester and can be taken at different levels: pre-intermediate level A1/A2, intermediate level B1/B2 and upper-intermediate/advanced level B2/C1. There are also courses that focus on individual skills (conversation, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, writing), academic work and specific language courses. Applying to study

In order to enrol in an exchange program at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt in the winter semester, you should apply by 15 July. For the summer semester, the application deadline is 15 January.

Your application should include:

• fully completed and signed application for admission

• proof of sufficient German language skills

The application documents:

Enrolment and registration

Enrolment takes place at the beginning of the semester at the Student Admissions Office. It requires your to provide proof of health insurance company and to pay the semester fee. Then you will be issued with student ID documents and the Certificate of Enrolment.

After enrolment you are entitled to attend lectures and seminars at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt.

As a registered student you can use all the university's facilities (library, computer pools etc.). Your student ID entitles you to discounts (e.g. theatre, museums) and access to the refectory and other facilities of Thuringian Student Services.
