Special features of studies

Teaching is rounded off with excursions, business games and lectures by specialists from the business sector. Special emphasis is placed on

  • the development of communication skills and
  • the international orientation and the relevance to the society as a whole of Business Administration. Accordingly all advanced fields of study are supplemented by the following compulsory modules:
  • Business English
  • Effective Speaking Styles (Presentation techniques, discussion style, group processes and chairing style, rhetoric, self- and time management)
  • Economics (Theory of money and monetary policy, economic policy, industrial economics and competition policy, foreign trade and payments).


The University co-operates with universities abroad. This should enable students to spend a semester studying at a university abroad. Detailed advice on the possible financial support of semesters abroad can be obtained from the University.

 

Technical equipment


The Department has two EDP laboratories equipped with current business administration software programs such as SAP R/3 and a multimedia laboratory. Foreign languages are taught in the up-to-date language laboratory of the University.

The Department’s teaching and office building is centrally located near the old part of the city.

 

Employment opportunities of graduates


According to their chosen advanced studies graduates with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration can find employment in all industries, the service sector and in trade in the following fields of activity:

• Finances and accounting
• Business planning and control/Controlling
• Company taxation and tax advice
• Personnel management
• Marketing and product management
• Market research
• Distribution
• Organization
• Information processing

Student exchanges with universities abroad are planned with the aim of preparing FH Erfurt students of economics as efficiently as possible for the highly diverse demands of the international and global labour markets. Especially the language studies offered are also intended to help in this respect.
