BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Time: Tuesdays 4.00-5.30 p.m.

Program Description

This course addresses to  students who want to get basic knowledge in business language and apply it throughout their professional career. The course is divided up into three main components: Business Correspondence, Telephoning and Small Talk. You will learn to prepare high-quality business letters and emails. Furthermore, you will also practice small talk and telephone conversations in the form of role plays.

Individual sessions will focus on:

  • Enquiries, offers and quotations, complaints
  • Connecting and being connected, Leaving and Taking messages, Organizing
  • Meeting and greeting people, Eating out, Talking about hobbies

Assignment:

  • Business letter
  • Simulated small talk and telephone conversations

NEGOTIATIONS

Program Description

This course concentrates on what happens during a negotiation. It enables you to identify the core steps in a negotiation and implement strategies and specific language skills to optimize negotiation outcomes. The course takes you through a variety of scenarios focusing on key negotiating skills starting with preparing a negotiation and finishing with bargaining and concluding.

Individual sessions will focus on:

  • individual stages of a negotiation
  • terminology and vocabulary
  • scenarios

Assignment:

  • participation in the situations simulated in the classroom


THE LANGUAGE OF MEETINGS

Program Description

This course is designed to help students develop skills in planning, chairing and participating in meetings. It provides all the necessary language and strategies to ensure full and effective communication in meetings, guiding step-by-step through all stages and aspects of them, ranging from setting an agenda to grappling with common meeting problems.

Individual sessions will focus on:

  • opening a meeting and guiding through the agenda
  • introducing speakers
  • presenting information and steering the discussion
  • expressing and asking for opinion
  • summarizing results and ending the meeting

Assignment:

  • Preparing and chairing an entire meeting

Lessons in this training series will help you to become confident in applying for a job abroad. You will learn to prepare a relevant and high-quality CV and cover letter/email that best reflects your strengths and helps you secure the job you want. You will also practise job interviews and build your confidence.

  • job interviews
