Development of Housing Stock for Specific Target Groups
As a result of demographic and social change and shifts in the economic situation of sections of the population, the housing sector is facing new challenges in terms of demand and the expectations of the housing market (paradigm shift from a supply-oriented to a demand-oriented housing policy). When developing housing stock, it is essential to consider the changing housing needs of younger generations, new family structures, the growing number of low-income households and, in particular, the increasing elderly population. It is becoming more and more important to focus on specific needs, especially with regard to designing sustainable living accommodation. In this research area, the term "living" refers comprehensively to the unit of housing, the building and surrounding area in which it is located, the infrastructure and the services offered in the neighbourhood.
