Information about holidays

The administration of holidays is done by electronic time recording. You will find access to your individual holiday allowance via the time recording system under: Journals/ Reference lists/ Administration of holidays current year.
The following generally applies: holidays should be applied for two weeks in advance. The electronic holiday request is checked by the responsible line manager via the web workflow, duly authorised and forwarded to the Personnel Department for further processing and recording by holiday administration. Only then may leave be taken!

Annual holidays are to be planned at the beginning of the calendar year. To this end, the appropriate form is available at the beginning of the year in the relevant department or departmental office. The personnel department must be notified promptly if holiday plans are changed.
The days preceding public holidays (24 and 31 December) are in principle non-working days.

It is possible that the Staff Council and the university administration may agree to close (usually between Christmas and New Year). Every employee is to submit holiday or time offset for the period of closure. As a rule notification of this is given when annual holidays are planned.

According to the Thuringian University Act (ThürHG), academic staff with teaching duties are to take their holidays during non-teaching periods. Exemption may only be made on good grounds. Responsibility lies with the President of the university.

The following applies to all employees:
In principle, holiday is to be taken in the current calendar year. Should this not be possible on the grounds of inability to work or for operational/official reasons, it will automatically be carried over into the next calendar year. The annual leave carried over must however be taken by 30.09 at the latest. It is otherwise forfeited without recourse to any claim.

Permission to take unpaid special leave is unaffected by the above rules. The request is processed by the personnel department where it must be submitted in writing in good time.
