In this discussion, we will let newcomers to Erfurt have their say and explore the question: How can integration succeed in Erfurt? What does it take?
Some immigrants will talk about the ups and downs of arriving and finding their feet in Germany - about difficulties as well as successes. Do these people, some of whom have lived in Erfurt for a long time, feel that the city is their home?
You will also get the chance to ask your questions on the topic.

How can people work together across borders without blocking the way with stereotypical preconceptions? Good intentions are often not enough - experiences from a Kenyan-German film project exemplify the complexity (and beauty) of international cooperation.

5 - 6 p.m.: Can I become a steak? -  Difficulties in English Language Learning
(Gunnar Lahr, FH Erfurt)
Especially when two languages belong to the same language family, learners are tempted to transfer their native language knowledge directly to the foreign language, which often results in mistakes. In an entertaining way, the lecture examines such pitfalls that German learners of English may encounter. We will look at false friends, anglicisms and pseudo-anglicisms, homophones and other phenomena.
