Microsoft "Azure Dev Tools for Teaching"
Erfurt University of Applied Sciences participates in Microsoft's Azure Dev Tools for Teaching program. Through this program, students and staff have access to various Microsoft products and developer tools for their studies and teaching.
Microsoft has changed the way access to the program is granted. New registrations directly through Azure Dev Tools for Teaching are no longer possible.
Included Software and Azure Services
Through Azure for Students, students gain access to various Microsoft development tools and software products. Depending on Microsoft’s current offerings, these include—among others—Visual Studio, SQL Server, Windows and server products, and other development tools.
In addition, Azure for Students currently includes a $100 Azure credit that can be used for supported Azure services within twelve months.
Once the credit is used up, there is no automatic transition to a paid plan. For any additional paid usage beyond this, a separate switch to a paid Azure subscription is required.
License Terms
The software provided as part of the Microsoft Education Program is intended for use by faculty and students in the context of their studies, teaching, and the preparation and follow-up of courses.
Use of the software is subject to the applicable Microsoft license terms. Commercial use or any other use not covered by the license terms is not permitted.
Access & Registration
Existing Access
Students who were already registered through Azure Dev Tools for Teaching prior to the transition can continue to use their existing software benefits.
As a registered educational institution, Erfurt University of Applied Sciences remains a participant in the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching program.
Access for Students
Students will now gain access to the provided software products through Azure for Students.
Registration is done directly with Microsoft:

To register, you must provide proof of student status to Microsoft. You must use your university email address for this purpose.
Requirements for Azure for Students include:
- Enrollment at a university
- Proof of student status
- Minimum age of 18
- Only one Azure for Students subscription is allowed per eligible person
A credit card is not required for registration.
