Bio

Matthias Gather is Professor of Transport Policy and Regional Planning at the faculty of economics - logistics - transportation of Erfurt University of Applied Sciences (since 1996). He holds a PhD from the Department of Cultural Geography, Urban and Regional Research of the University Frankfurt a. M. and worked as a consultant at Prognos AG (Basel), Lahmeyer International (Frankfurt) and Infrastruktur und Umwelt (Darmstadt). His research is concerned with the multiple interrelations of political governance of sustainable transport and spatial development. A focus there are transport economics and policies; regional development; spatial and environmental planning. He also is chair of the Thuringian council for sustainability.
