Frederik Sting completed his dual studies in mechatronics at the DHBW Mannheim from 2011 to 2014. His training partner was DB Regio AG, Region NRW, where he carried out vehicle maintenance projects in particular. From 2014 to 2016, he studied industrial engineering at the TU Braunschweig, during which time he worked as an assistant researcher at the Institute of Thermodynamics and wrote his master's thesis in India on the establishment of learning factories for students. Since 2016, he has been working at Sternico GmbH in the digitalisation of maintenance processes in the railway sector, for which he has taken on the role of product owner for the in-house software product since 2020. He took up his position at the FHE in September 2021 as part of the DISTINplus project with the aim of digital networking and standardisation in the maintenance process for locomotives and rail freight wagons in the ECM context.
