STEM
In 2006, the Mathematics and Science Centre was founded as a cross-faculty institution for teaching mathematics and physics at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt. In 2022, it joined forces with the central chemistry laboratory to form the STEM department (in German "MINT") in the Centre of Fundamental Studies. The STEM staff teach modules in various degree programs and offer bridge courses and prep courses every year to help students get ready for their studies. They are also in charge of the schools laboratory at FH Erfurt and the central chemistry lab.
Bridge and prep courses
Every year, the STEM department offers preparatory courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry for newly enrolled students before their lectures begin in the winter semester. These courses each last one week and consist of approx. 90 minutes of lectures and 180 minutes of tutorials with practical exercises (mathematics and physics) every day. The chemistry course takes place as an online seminar.
