The learning lab provides supplementary study space for independent and research-based learning by means of explorative engagement with materials. In addition, the staff regularly hold events where educational topics and materials are discussed and the resources and their limits are reflected upon.
Main research area: childhood, youth, social conflict situations
The academic pursuits of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences are reflected in its main research area of "Childhood, Youth, Social Conflict". This interdisciplinary research focus explores childhood and adolescence as phases of life. Issues pertaining to central educational and socialization structures, life circumstances, cultures of growing up and the professional support of children's and young people's educational biographies are at the core of the project.
It is crucial to address social and economic inequalities that lead to extreme disparities in the distribution of opportunities and options. Consequently, it is necessary to look at social conflicts, which manifest themselves in various social and also family problems. As a result, there are challenges for modern educational landscapes and activating social work that need to be accompanied by and further developed through research.
